MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Year-round, we provide rich programming that fosters meaningful and collaborative learning for the development of artists of all ages. Our summer, March Break, PA Day and Reading Week programs are fun, innovative and inspiring. We provide a safe and respectful learning space and are dedicated to the highest standards of theatre training and practice for both young people and adults. All are welcome.

MARCH BREAK & PA DAY SESSIONS

Day Camp: April 27 and June 8 (9am to 4pm)

PA Day programs are focused on having fun and building ensemble. Using a particular Shakespeare play from the 2018 season as their inspiration for the day, they explore storytelling and character development through improvisation, games, team building and performance. The day culminates with a 15-minute showcase of collectively created work. They are suitable for children of all abilities and levels of experience. Each PA Day program uses a different play as the source of inspiration, so participants may come to all three.

Nutritional snacks provided, but students must bring their own lunch.

Cost: $45 per session
Receive a 10% discount when 2 or more children from the same household are registered together.

Day Camp

March Break students will receive an introduction to the language, stories, characters and ideas in Shakespeare's plays through:

  • Improvisation
  • Games
  • Ensemble-building
  • The session will culminate in a showcase of scenes and speeches from Shakespeare's plays.

Nutritional snacks provided, but students must bring their own lunch.

SHAKESPEARE SCHOOL SUMMER SESSIONS

Day Camp: July 9 to 13 (9 am to 4 pm)

Lord Chamberlain's Company students will receive an introduction to the language, stories, characters and ideas in Shakespeare's plays through:

  • Improvisation
  • Games
  • Ensemble-building
  • The session will culminate in a showcase of scenes and speeches from Shakespeare's plays.

Nutritional snacks provided, but students must bring their own lunch.

Optional extended care between 4 and 5 pm: $50 for the session

The Queen's Company is ideal for any young person interested in exploring classical text, such as Shakespeare. Students will take part in a rigorous schedule of classes, workshops, discussions, rehearsal and play going, with a focus on:

These programs are ideal for any young person who has a keen interest in exploring either classical (Shakespeare) or musical theatre. Students will take part in a rigorous schedule of classes, workshops, discussions, rehearsal and play going, with a focus on:

The Musical Theatre program will include training dedicated to:

  • Vocal and instrumental music
  • Dance and Choreography
  • Script writing

Residential Program Dates 

Session 1: July 8 to 27
Session 2: July 29 to August 18

Theatre Performance Intensive students participate in an intensive curriculum designed for the more experienced actor who is working towards a career in the performing arts.

Classes may include but are not limited to:

  • Classical and modern text analysis and performance
  • Neutral mask
  • Audition technique and repertoire
  • Alexander technique
  • Voice movement and performance
  • Industry information (résumés, headshots, agents, etc.)

Students will leave fully prepared for what will be expected and required of them at theatre school and in the professional world.

ADULT AND POST-SECONDARY SESSIONS

Day Camp: July 2 to 6, 2018
For ages 20+

Summer acting camp for adults! Participants will take part in classes, discussions and rehearsal with a focus on acting, text, voice and movement, culminating in a 40-minute public performance.

Participants will:
• Receive a ticket to one of our Shakespeare productions
• Participate in workshops with Festival artists
• Access costumes from our warehouse
• Work with a professional director

Residential program: October 9 to 13, 2018

The Classical Immersion and Audition Prep is an exploration of theatre for post-secondary theatre school students with a focus on acting, text, voice and movement within the classical cannon.  This program is ideal for any student preparing for upcoming auditions and classical work. At the completion of the session there is an invited presentation by the students for industry professionals.
